FG announce reduction in petrol pump price to N162.44 per litre
The Federal Government has reduced the pump price of premium motor spirit, otherwise known as petrol, from N168 to N162.44 per litre with effect from December 14, 2020. According to a report from Punch, this disclosure was made by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige, while speaking to newsmen at the end of a meeting with labour leaders which began around 9 pm on Monday and ended at 1:30 am on Tuesday. 90 year old woman becomes first to receive Covid-19 Vaccine in the UK
90-year-old Margaret Keenan became the first person to receive the Covid-19 vaccine outside of clinical trials in the United Kingdom since it was approved by UK authorities. She received the first two doses at the University Hospital in Coventry. This also means the United Kingdom is the first country in the West to administer the vaccine to its citizens. The Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine was approved by UK authorities last week and is set to be given to over 40 million Britons in a programmed roll-out. Read more

President Muhammadu Buhari has reappointed Ahmed Kuru as managing director of Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) for a final term of five years. Commercial operations begin on Lagos-Ibadan rail line
Commercial operations have kicked off on the Lagos-Ibadan rail line. This comes three years after Vice President Yemi Osinbajo performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the project on March 7, 2017. Less than two months after the suspension of the nationwide #EndSARS protests against police brutality, the organisers and activists have ignored threats by the government and security agencies by organising fresh protests in some parts of the country.However, soldiers and policemen were deployed in some of the venues to disrupt the protests on Monday, especially in Lagos. President Muhammadu Buhari has agreed to honour the invitation of the House of Representatives and will on Thursday, December 10, 2020, address a joint session of the National Assembly on the security challenges in the country. Oando blames SEC for failure to submit Q3 financial results
Oando Plc, an integrated energy company, has blamed the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for its inability to submit third quarter (Q3) 2020 financial results. In 2019, SEC found the energy company guilty of “serious infractions”, thereby barring Wale Tinubu, its chief executive officer (CEO) and Mofe Boyo, deputy CEO from the boards of public companies for five years.
