NERC says electricity consumers will be refunded for meter payment
The Federal Government has said that electricity consumers who paid for meters under the Meter Asset Provider (MAP) scheme, will have a refund of their money. This clarification is coming on the heels of enquiries by some electricity consumers, who wanted to know if the money they had paid for meters under the MAP scheme, would be refunded, bearing in mind the recent government’s pronouncement that 6 million meters would be distributed at no cost to customers under the National Mass Metering Programme (NMMP). Kaduna’s only surviving textile company’ sacks 300 employees
United Textile Limited (UNTL), the only surviving textile company in Kaduna state, has sacked about 300 of its 800 workforce, DailyTrust is reporting. The report, published on Tuesday, quoted the company as saying the mass sack is part of efforts to restructure operations. UNTL, which was founded in 1964, had initially shut down operations in 2007 but reopened in 2010. Read more
CBN: Corporate loan defaults worsened for small businesses in Q4
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) says the rate of default on collateral loans worsened in the fourth quarter of 2020. This is contained in a report released by the CBN statistics department titled ‘Credit Conditions Survey Report for Q4 2020’, released on Tuesday. Read more

Foreign stock investors withdrew N433.15bn in 11 months – NSE
Foreign investors pulled out a total of N433.15bn from the nation’s stock market from January to November this year, compared to N481.96bn in the same period of 2019, a new report by the Nigerian Stock Exchange on Wednesday has shown. The NSE, in its domestic and foreign portfolio report, said foreign inflows into the market fell to N226.13bn year-to-date from N 397.44bn in 2019. Read more
Subscribers with NIN can replace their SIM, says ALTON
The Association of Licensed Telecommunication Operators of Nigeria has announced that subscribers with National Identification Numbers can now replace their lost or damaged SIM at any of the customer centres across the country. This was disclosed on Wednesday in a statement titled ‘ALTON’s Update on SIM Registration and NIN Integration’ signed by ALTON Chairman, Gbenga Adebayo and Publicity Secretary, Damian Udeh. Read more
Lagos-Ibadan railway now enjoying more patronage – NRC
The Lagos-Ibadan train now enjoys more patronage; the Nigerian Railway Corporation has said. The Lagos Railway District Manager of the NRC, Jerry Oche, said this in an exclusive interview with our correspondent on Wednesday. The Lagos-Ibadan rail line on December 7 commenced commercial operations with the first trip operating 10:40 am with only one passenger. Read more
