Healing Together with Sanyade Okoli
We will all agree that these past few weeks haven’t been easy on most people, especially those living in Nigeria - the riots at Orile, the Lekki Toll Gate ambush and the ensuing roller coaster of attacks on life and businesses across the country. To help our healing process, we will be holding a communal therapy session with @sanyadeokoli on our weekly AGS Lightbox session to address how the losses of the past weeks affected each individual and how to work through it. Sanyade is an inner healing practitioner, helping people to identify and address soul wounds. Also, she is a senior finance professional and the Chief Executive Officer of Alpha African Advisory Limited based in Lagos, Nigeria. Nigerian youths had been protesting for over 2 weeks, calling for an end to police brutality with the #EndSARS hashtag on numerous social media channels among which Twitter topped. Nigeria has a median age of 17.9, and the Nigerian youths used their tech-savvy influence to draw international attention to the brutality on protesters. Read more
Airtel Africa Plc appoints Kelly Bayer Rosmarin as Non-Executive Director
Airtel Nigeria Plc has announced the appointment of Kelly Bayer Rosmarin as a Non-Executive Director (NED), with effect from 27 October 2020. This information is contained in a note sent to the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange on the 27th of October 2020 and signed by Secretary, Airtel Africa Plc, Simon O’ Hara. Read more
Niger, Benin, Togo pay Nigeria N2.04bn electricity bill
International customers – Niger, Benin, Togo – who purchase power from Nigeria remitted a total of N2.04bn in the first quarter of this year as their outstanding electricity bill to the Market Operator of the sector in Nigeria. But special customers, Ajaokuta Steel Co. Ltd and its environs, did not make any payment in respect of the N0.27bn and N0.05bn invoices issued them by the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Plc and the MO respectively, during the period of review. US Consulate to mentor, train female entrepreneurs
The United States Consulate General in Lagos is set to empower female entrepreneurs in southern Nigeria through training and mentoring as part of its 2020 Academy for Women Entrepreneurs. In a statement, the consulate said it would select 120 female entrepreneurs from across southern Nigeria to receive virtual and in-person training and mentoring. Read more
FG commences payment of N30,000 to 333,000 artisans
The Federal Government has progressed with payment of N30,000 one-time grants to 333,000 artisans across the country as part of the Economic Sustainability Plan (ESP) Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Office of the Vice President, Mr Laolu Akande, in a statement, explained the payments were being made to verified beneficiaries of the Artisan Support Scheme, a track under the MSMEs Survival Fund. #EndSARS: Army denies shooting at Lekki protesters, says Lagos asked for military
The Nigerian Army has stated that the alleged massacre of protesters at Lekki Toll Plaza is untrue, unfounded, and aimed at causing anarchy in the country and that their presence was requested by the Lagos State Government to restore normalcy. This was disclosed in a statement by the Acting Deputy Director, 81 Division Army Public Relations, Major Osoba Olaniyi, on Tuesday evening, as the world draws attention to the Lekki shootings last week. Bargain hunters drive Flour Mills’ shares to highest price in 2 years — after impressive half-year result
Shares of Flour Mills of Nigeria, Nigeria’s biggest miller by market share, traded at a two-year high at N26.50 today on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange, as bargain hunters jostle to take position following the release of its impressive 2020/21 half-year result. The last time it traded such a high was on August 3, 2018, when it traded at N27.00. The shares also gained 9.09 percent — the highest gain in 11 months. Read more
