Flour Mills to build Atan-Agbara road in exchange for tax credit
The minister disclosed this while speaking on The Platform, a virtual event held to commemorate Nigeria’s diamond jubilee, on Thursday. The RITC scheme grants income tax credit to companies and individuals that provide funding for the refurbishment and rehabilitation of roads. Read more
President Trump tests positive to COVID-19, U.S Stock Futures down
U.S. stock futures dropped lower on Friday after President Trump disclosed he and his wife have tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. President via his Twitter Feed said, “Tonight, @FLOTUS and I tested positive for COVID-19. We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immediately. We will get through this TOGETHER!” Read more
Microsoft outlook users experience Software Blackout
Microsoft outlook service had a worldwide blackout today following a software “configuration update”. Outlook users were unable to connect to their Outlook.com as the site had difficulty in loading for some hours. Read more
CBN says Nigerian Youth Investment Fund is coming soon
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has announced that its Nigeria Youth Investment Fund (NYIF) will soon be disbursed. The apex bank made the announcement via its Twitter handle on Thursday while the nation marks its 60th Independence anniversary. Read more
HealthPlus: Business owners call for more protection from FG against ‘dubious’ foreign investors
Following the crisis that is rocking HealthPlus Nigeria, entrepreneurs have called on the Federal Government to protect their businesses from what they described as alleged forceful takeover by some private equity firms. The business owners also identified foreign equity firms as major threats to the well-being of Nigerian entrepreneurs and their businesses. Read more
South Africa reopens borders to African countries, bars others
On March 27, South Africa closed its borders as part of measures to curb the spread of coronavirus in the country. It was also the start of a strict nationwide lockdown. Even though some restrictions have been eased the country’s borders remained closed to avoid importing the virus. The country’s Foreign Minister Naledi Pandor indicated that they will open the borders gradually. Read more
The EU triggers legal action against the UK for breaking the Brexit deal
The European Union has announced that it will trigger legal action against the UK after Boris Johnson's government announced plans to break the terms of the Brexit deal the two sides agreed last year. Johnson's government last month produced a new Internal Market Bill which allows the UK to breach parts of the Brexit withdrawal agreement with the EU specifically covering the status of Northern Ireland. FrieslandCampina WAMCO completes acquisition of Nutricima’s Dairy business
FrieslandCampina WAMCO has acquired Nutricima’s dairy company in Nigeria. This is to help the business increase its presence in Nigeria. A statement said Nutricima will be merged into FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria PLC. It added that an agreement for the acquisition was signed by FrieslandCampina and PZ Cussons in March. Read more
