SIM/NIN linkage applicants stranded as NIMC website crashes
Large crowd thronging the web portal of the National Identity Management Commission for the process of obtaining their National Identity Number led to the crash of the portal on Monday. Many people who wanted to print the enrollment form, which is a major requirement for registering for the National Identity Number were unable to do so and got stranded. Read more
Dangote Cement hits highest price in more than two years, ahead of share buyback plan
Shares of Dangote Cement, Africa’s biggest cement producer, was on full bid yesterday gaining 10 percent — the biggest in five months, as investor interest in the cement maker drove its share price to N230.40 — the highest in 28 months. The last time it traded that high was on August 24, 2018, when it traded at N235. Read more

Toyota Nigeria Limited has been awarded the automobile brand of the year at the Nigeria Business Leadership Awards. In a statement on Tuesday by the Public Relations Manager, Bukunola Ogunnusi, the company said the brand emerged winner in a keenly contested category. Read more
Cooking gas price rises 20% on weak naira
the price of Liquefied Petroleum Gas, popularly known as cooking gas, sold to marketers in the country has risen by over 20 per cent in the past one month, with consumers paying more for the product. The naira plunged on November 30 to 500 per dollar at the parallel market, its lowest level in more than three years, from around N462/$1 at the start of the month. It traded at 476 against the greenback on Tuesday. Read more
Air Peace operates direct flight to Jamaica
Air Peace on Monday operated a direct flight from the Murtala Muhammed International Airport Lagos to the Island country of Jamaica. In a statement on Tuesday by the airline spokesman, Mr Stanley Olisa, the airline said that one of its three Boeing 777 aircraft with registration number 5N-BVE was deployed for the 11-hour flight which departed at 5pm with 132 passengers on board. ExxonMobil has announced a force majeure on Nigeria’s Qua Iboe crude oil production, due to a fire incident that reportedly killed a worker and injured others. This was disclosed in a statement by a spokesman of the company, reported by Reuters. Read more
Covid-19: First recorded case hits Antarctica
The first set of Covid-19 cases has hit the remote continent of Antarctica, which has a population of less than 5000 and was once the only place with no previous record of the virus. This was disclosed in a statement by the Chilean Military, which has a base at the Chilean Antarctic Territory. Chile says its health workers are working round the clock to quarantine staff at a research station before the virus spreads. Read more
