Bolt introduces insurance for passengers, drivers

The insurance, called Bolt Trip Protection, is underwritten by AIICO Insurance PLC in partnership with AutoGenius. It caters to emergency medical expenses, disability or even in the unlikely event of accidental death. The insurance is said to be available in all 11 cities where Bolt operates across the country at no cost to passengers and drivers. Read more

Buhari to finally send Petroleum Industry Bill to National Assembly next week

President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to present the long-awaited Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) to the Senate as early as next week. According to Reuters, who were quoting 4 sources familiar with the development, the presentation of the bill to the National Assembly, follows its official approval by the president late last week. This is as the National Assembly has already formed teams of members that will work most closely on the individual portions of the bill. Read more

Tony Elumelu named in “Time 100” list of the 100 Most Influential People in the World 2020

TIME has named Tony O. Elumelu, one of Africa’s leading investors and philanthropists, in the 2020 TIME100, the annual list of the 100 most influential people in the world. The list, now in its seventeenth year, recognises the activism, innovation, and achievement of the world’s most influential individuals. Mr Elumelu, who is one of only four Africans on the 2020 list, is recognised for his track record of business turnaround and value creation, and economic empowerment of young Africans. Lagos agency launches fuel station for ferries

The Lagos State Waterways Authority on Tuesday launched its first-ever fuel station on the Lagos inland waterways. The station is an attempt to boost water transportation activities by selling petrol to boats on the Lagos inland waterways which would further discourage the use of jerry cans and kegs by ferry operators to buy fuel. Dangote Cement pays over N1 trillion dividends in seven years

Dangote Cement has paid its shareholders over N1trillion as dividends in the past seven years, as part of efforts to grow the Nigerian economy. A breakdown of the seven-year dividend payment gleaned from the company’s financial statements indicated that N51.1 billion was paid in 2013, N119.3 billion in 2014, N102.2 billion in 2015, N136.3 billion in 2016, N144.8 billion in 2017, N178.9 billion in 2018, and N272.6 billion in 2019. NSE admits United Capital’s N10bn bond

The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) yesterday admitted United Capital Plc’s N10bn 5 Year 12.5 per cent Senior Unsecured Fixed Rate Series I Bonds Due 2025 under the N30bn Debt Issuance Programme on Daily Official List of the Exchange. The bond issuance, which opened on Monday, May 4, 2020 and closed on Friday, May 15, 2020,was oversubscribed by 24 per cent, making United Capital the first non-bank issuing house to issue a corporate bond in the history of the Nigerian capital market. FG places nine-year presidential jet on sale

The Federal Government has put up for sale a jet in the presidential fleet, Hawker 4000 aircraft with registration number, 5N-FGX/: RC 066. The business-size jet which entered into service in December 2011, has capacity for nine passengers and three crew members. Read more

UK-based group to invest $245 million in 100 Nigerian businesses

A UK-based development finance institution, CDC Group, has finalized plans to invest US$425 million as an aid to 100 businesses and 38,000 jobs in Nigeria. This is sequel to its partnership with 40 investment funds such as Afreximbank, African Capital Alliance and Indoram, NAN reports. Read more
