Buhari: Nigeria would be in trouble if we hadn’t persuaded people to return to agriculture
Agriculture was Nigeria’s major source of revenue before crude oil was discovered in the 1970s. Speaking at a virtual meeting with members of the presidential economic advisory council (PEAC) at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Buhari said unemployed Nigerians, particularly those without education, were persuaded to engage in agricultural activities. Nigeria will keep taking infrastructure loans to attract investments – Buhari
President Muhammadu Buhari has justified Nigeria’s rising debt profile to fund infrastructure, saying loan for infrastructure will make Nigeria an attractive place for foreign investors. Senior Special Assistant to the President, Garba Shehu disclosed that the President made this statement at a virtual meeting with members of the Presidential Economic Advisory Council (PEAC) at the State House, in Abuja on Wednesday. Government publishes plans to sell PHCN properties
The Federal Government through the Nigeria Electricity Liability Management Company ( NELMCO), announced plans to sell off real estate belonging to the defunct PHCN. NELMCO disclosed earlier last week the first batch of properties to be sold, including older NEPA/PHCN offices, guest houses and other properties owned by PHCN before the Power Privatization scheme of 2013. CBN demands details of 12 top Nigerian businessmen, others’ domiciliary accounts
The Central Bank of Nigeria has ordered banks to provide the domiciliary account statements of some high profile customers and other accounts linked to the customers through the Bank Verification Number. It disclosed this in a letter to all the banks with the number, ‘BSD/DIR/GEN/LAB/13/063, dated September 15, titled ‘Request for statement of accounts’, signed by the Director of Banking Supervision, CBN, Z. Banks to phase out old cheque books December 31
Deposit Money Banks have started to notify their customers that they will phase out old cheque books and will no longer honour such by December 31, 2020. They have also urged customers to request new cheque books. Read more
Airlines with operator certificates to receive palliatives –NCAA
The Director-General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, Capt. Musa Nuhu, has said government palliatives will only be cover airlines with valid Air Operator Certificates. Nuhu said this in a media session with journalists on Wednesday. Read more
