Airtel share price hits all-time high, as stock market maintains four days positive run
The local bourse continued its positive trend on Thursday, sustaining a fourth consecutive gain in the week, as buying interests in the shares of Airtel Africa pushed it to an all-time high price of N774.40, gaining the maximum 10 percent. Read more
Nigeria records 1,145 new cases of Covid-19, highest daily surge
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, on Thursday, 17th December 2020 announced that 1,145 new confirmed covid-19 cases and 1 death were recorded in Nigeria, taking the total tally to 76,207 confirmed cases and 1,201 deaths, year to date. This represents the highest number of daily cases recorded since the outbreak. A 23.1% increase compared to the initial record highest 930 cases recorded yesterday. Read more

Senate passes 2021-2023 MTEF/FSP, pegs oil benchmark at $40
The Senate on Thursday passed the 2021-2023 Medium Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper. It pegged oil benchmark at $40 and exchange rate at N379 per dollar. The MTEF/FSP is the fiscal document upon which the 2021 Appropriation Bill would be predicated upon. Read more
Buhari approves establishment of 10 national parks
The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has approved the establishment of 10 additional national parks. Minister of Environment, Mohammad Abubakar, announced this on Thursday at a press briefing in Abuja. He said the establishment of the 10 parks would increase the country’s national parks to 17, adding that an executive bill would be sent to the National Assembly on the development. Read more
ALERT: Azimo, Transfer Wise not licensed money transfer operators, CBN warns
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on Wednesday warned that Azimo and Transfer Wise are not licensed to operate as international money transfer operators (IMTOs). IMTOs are financial companies involved in the transfer of funds across countries. Azimo and TransferWise are both London-based online money transfer providers. Read more
FG, states, LGs share N601bn as federation allocation for November
The Federal Accounts Allocation Committee (FAAC) shared N601.110 billion to federal government, states and local government councils (LGCs) as federation account revenue for November 2020. This was disclosed in a statement by Aliyu Ahmed, permanent secretary, ministry of finance, budget and national planning, at the end of FAAC meeting in Abuja on Wednesday. Read more
