FG announces new SIM replacement policy
The federal government has released a policy for subscribers who intend to replace their lost, stolen, misplaced or damaged SIM cards. This was announced in a joint statement signed by Ikechukwu Adinde, director of public affairs at Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC); and Kayode Adegoke, head of corporate communication at National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), on Friday. APPLY: Tony Elumelu Foundation opens entry for TEF entrepreneurship programme
The Tony Elumelu Foundation (TEF) is accepting applications for the 2021 edition of its programme for African entrepreneurs. Ifeyinwa Ugochukwu, the chief executive officer of TEF, told journalists on Friday that at least 2,400 entrepreneurs will be selected to receive business training, mentorship, non-refundable seed capital of $5,000. The programme is open to new start-ups and existing young businesses, operating in any sector. Read more
COVID-19 vaccine: Africa to get 50 million doses from Pfizer and BionTech
Pharmaceutical companies, Pfizer and BioNTech will supply up to 50 million doses of their COVID-19 vaccine to Africa, starting from March 2021. This was disclosed by South Africa’s President, Cyril Ramaphosa in a Bloomberg report on Sunday. The report also disclosed that the South African Presidency warned that Africa had very limited options available for vaccines. Read more
President Donald Trump extends green card and visa ban due to pandemic
The United States on Thursday extended its ban on issuing new green cards and work visas to large groups of applicants to March 31, due to the coronavirus pandemic which has led to continued weakness in the US labour market. According to a report from Bloomberg, the US President, Donald Trump, signed a proclamation that extends the immigration restrictions that took effect in April 2020 and subsequently renewed in the month of June 2020. FG suspends NIMC workers over NIN extortion allegations
The Federal Government has suspended workers fingered in extortion at enrolment centres of the National Identity Management Commission. It was gathered that the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, ordered the immediate suspension of the staff members allegedly involved in extortion of applicants at the NIMC Bauchi and Kaduna state offices. Nigeria owes domestic investors N15.8tr
The Federal Government is owing N15.85 trillion in domestic debts, with almost three-quarters of the debts due to bondholders. The fixed-return debts place obligation on the government to make regular interest or coupon payment and redemption as at when due. Read more
Onyeali-Ikpe assumes office as Fidelity Bank CEO
Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe has officially assumed office as the fourth chief executive officer of Fidelity Bank. Onyeali-Ikpe, whose tenure commenced on January 1, 2020, is the first female to occupy the position since the bank’s inception in 1988. She succeeds Nnamdi Okonkwo, the erstwhile MD/CEO, who retired on December 31, 2020, after completing his contract tenure in line with the bank’s governance policy. Read more

BBNaija's Laycon conferred with chieftaincy title in Ogun state
The winner of the 2020 Big Brother Naija Lockdown house, Agbelesebioba Olamikekan, also known as Laycon has been installed as the Akeweje of Ipokia kingdom, in Ogun State. He received the traditional title on Sunday from the Onipokia of Ipokia, Oba Yisa Adesola Olaniyan, at the 2021 Opo Day celebration held at the District High School, Ipokia. Read more
