Healing Together with Sanyade Okoli
We will all agree that these past few weeks haven’t been easy on most people, especially those living in Nigeria - the riots at Orile, the Lekki Toll Gate ambush and the ensuing roller coaster of attacks on life and businesses across the country. To help our healing process, we will be holding a communal therapy session with @sanyadeokoli on our weekly AGS Lightbox session to address how the losses of the past weeks affected each individual and how to work through it. Sanyade is an inner healing practitioner, helping people to identify and address soul wounds. Also, she is a senior finance professional and the Chief Executive Officer of Alpha African Advisory Limited based in Lagos, Nigeria. Okonjo-Iweala favoured for WTO job despite US opposition
Most European Union member states have continued to express their support for Nigeria’s former finance minister, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, as the next director-general of the World Trade Organisation. The BBC also reported on Wednesday that the WTO’s ambassadors have backed Okonjo-Iweala for the position. If the former managing director of the World Bank finally clinches the position, she would be the first woman and the first African to lead the WTO. Read more

The top trending search term on Google in Nigeria over the past 30 days is ‘Independence Day’ followed by #EndSARS. According to a statement by Google on Wednesday, state election results were also among the top trending Google searches in Nigeria this month. Read more
UK High Commission reopens visa application centres in Nigeria
The United Kingdom High Commission in Nigeria has announced the reopening of its visa application centres in the country. This comes some days after the high commission had shut down its visa application centres in Victoria Island, Lagos and Abuja over the outbreak of violence arising from hijacked #EndSARS protests against police brutality and extra-judicial killings, which led to the loss of lives, vandalization, and looting of public and private assets across the country. Dangote delays London Stock Exchange listing
Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, is once again delaying plans to list Nigeria’s second most capitalized company on the London Stock Exchange, rather choosing other options like boosting exports and the Nigerian company’s foreign-exchange reserves in a report credited to Bloomberg. Read more
Niger, Benin Republic pay Nigeria $6.6m out of $13m electricity debt
Under an international treaty, Nigeria sells electricity to neighbouring countries like Benin Republic, Togo and Niger. According to the regulator’s 2020 first-quarter report, Niger and Benin Republic paid $5.27 million and $1.39 million, respectively, out of $13.22 million on the invoice issued to them for electricity supply from January to March. Sirika: Nigeria Air will be delivered before 2023
Sirika was addressing journalists on after appearing before the senate committee on aviation for the 2021 budget defence by the ministry and its agencies on Tuesday. “We are on it. The transaction adviser has brought in the outline business case. It is being reviewed by the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC),” NAN quoted him to have said. Read more
CBN reveals framework for the N75 billion Youth Investment Fund
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has revealed the implementation framework for the Nigerian Youth Investment Fund. This was disclosed in a publication by the Development Finance Department under the auspices of the Central Bank of Nigeria. The CBN stated that the Nigerian Youth Investment Fund (N-YIF) would be funded through NIRSAL MFB window, with an initial take-off seed capital of N12.5 billion. Read more

Kenyan born actress, Lupita Nyong'o has spoken about the shooting which took place at the Lekki toll gate about a week ago. In a series of tweets posted via her Twitter page on Wednesday, October 28, 2020, the Hollywood movie star expressed her displeasure over the murder of the young and unarmed protesters. Read more
