CBN: Banks to begin paying remittance inflows in forex from Friday
Godwin Emefiele, governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), says deposit money banks will begin remittances from international money transfer operators (IMTOs) on Friday, December 4. A statement released by the apex bank on Thursday quoted Emefiele as saying the bank has engaged banks and IMTOs to ensure that recipients of remittance inflows are able to receive their funds in the foreign currency of their choice. The Executive Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has brought respite to the families of police officers killed during the violence witnessed in the aftermath of the #EndSARS protests. According to the disclosure on the Twitter page of the Lagos State Government, the families were handed a cheque of N10 million each and the children of the slain officers awarded scholarships by the government. 0.08% stamp duty on securities takes effect Monday
The Nigerian Stock Exchange has announced the revision of stamp duty on securities transactions to 0.08 per cent from 0.075 per cent, effective December 7, 2020. It said the change was necessitated by the classification of contract notes as an ad valorem tax by the Federal Inland Revenue Service. Read more
