WhatsApp to share users’ personal information with Facebook
WhatsApp will now share its users’ personal information, including phone numbers, IP addresses, contacts, and more with Facebook from February 8, 2021. Users who want to keep using WhatsApp must agree to these new terms, as there will be no option to opt-out. The only way to object is to leave the service. Read more
Twitter permanently suspends Donald Trump
Social Media Network, Twitter has permanently suspended U.S President, Donald Trump, citing the risk of further incitement of violence. Twitter disclosed this in a blog statement on Friday evening. ” After close review of recent Tweets from the @realDonaldTrump account and the context around them — specifically how they are being received and interpreted on and off Twitter — we have permanently suspended the account due to the risk of further incitement of violence. Indigenous marine pilots demand payments in dollar
A GROUP of local marine pilots in the Warri Pilotage District, Delta State, Escravos Ship Pilots Nigeria Limited (ESPNL), has said it can no longer receive its payments in the country’s currency. The group is demanding to be paid in the United States dollar. The group has also lamented the illegal encroachment of navigable Escravos channel by fishermen and other persons claiming such activities constitute safety hazards for navigation. Read more
NSE suspends Thomas Wyatt Nigeria
The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) has debarred Thomas Wyatt Nigeria from trading their shares. A statement signed by Lilian Dako, head of NSE listing regulation department, said the company was suspended for failing to file its audited financial statements for the year ended March 31, 2020. COVID-19: WHO advises vaccine firms and wealthy nations to stop bilateral deals
The World Health Organization (WHO) chief, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, today called on makers of COVID-19 vaccines and the wealthier countries buying them to “stop making bilateral deals,” noting bilateral deals hurt a U.N.-backed effort to widen access to the jabs. He appealed to countries that have more jabs than they need to make some available to the COVAX Facility — the U.N.-backed project to get vaccines deployed widely. Read more

NIN: ‘exercise will be reviewed’
THE Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) on Thursday assured telephone subscribers that the timeline for ongoing linkage of subscriber identity modules (SIMs) with National Identity Numbers (NIN) is subject to review as the exercise progresses. It said the Minister of Communication and Digital Economy has assured that the government will continue to review the exercise in the light of experiences to ensure its smooth implementation.
