FG to publish names of people who got tax exemption in 2019
The federal government says it will publish a report on all the individuals and organisations that received tax exemptions and rebates in 2019. Speaking when presenting the 2021 budget at the national assembly on Thursday, President Muhammadu Buhari said the report will contribute to public discussion on the use of tax policies. Read more
CBN’s $450m inflow to BDCs stabilise naira
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has injected over $450 million into the Bureau De Change (BDC) segment of the foreign exchange market to keep the naira stable. The dollar injections, which came after the apex bank resumed dollar sales to the BDCs, was to curb exchange rate volatility and protect the naira against attacks from forex speculators and black market traders. NIPOST begins address verification service
The Nigerian Postal Service has inaugurated an Address Verification Service. Through the service, corporate and private organisations can approach NIPOST to verify addresses given by customers or employees. Post-Master General of the Federation, Ismail Adewusi, disclosed this in Abuja on Thursday during a virtual colloquium to mark 2020 World Post Day ceremony. Read more

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation has commiserated with residents of Baruwa area in Lagos on the gas plant fire incident that ravaged the community on Thursday. It, however, said in a statement issued in Abuja by its spokesperson, Kennie Obateru, that NNPC’s pipelines were not anywhere close to the location of the incident. Read more
World Bank backs FG on petrol subsidy removal
The World Bank said on Thursday that the removal of petrol subsidy in Nigeria was an important step amid the COVID-19 crisis. The bank, in its ‘Africa’s Pulse’ report entitled ‘Charting the road to recovery’, said countries in sub-Saharan Africa were seizing the opportunity created by the crisis to accelerate the structural reform agenda. REA needs $2b to provide electricity for 80million Nigerians
RURAL Electrification Agency (REA) requires over $2 billion to provide electricity for the 80 million Nigerians, who lack it. Its Managing Director, Mr. Salihijo Ahmad who spoke at the REA-NASS workshop on Rural Electrification Programmes: Legislation, Implementation and Sustainability, in Abuja, said the agency has a funding gap of over $2 billion required to power 80 million Nigerians, who currently do not have access to electricity. Thrive Agric appoints new interim CEO amid repayment challenges
Thrive Agric, an agric-tech company, has announced that Uka Eje, its chief executive officer, will step down in the interim as part of efforts to reposition the company. In a notice sent to investors on Thursday, Thrive Agric said Adia Sowho has been appointed as interim CEO while Eje serves as the chief operating officer as well as Sowho’s understudy. Read more
