Air Peace resumes Dubai flights, begins operations to Jo’Burg, Jamaica
Air Peace has scheduled December for the commencement of an inaugural flight into Jamaica. It also explained that regional flights would commence into Accra, Banjul, Freetown, Dakar, Monrovia, Dubai, Johannesburg the same month. This disclosure was made by the Chief Operating Officer of the airline, Mrs Toyin Olajide, who lamented the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on its operations. Read more
Emirates offers travellers $500,000 multi-risk travel cover
Emirates airlines has announced that it will provide travellers a multi-risk travel cover worth $500,000 on top of its current COVID-19 cover. In a statement by the airline, the new multi-risk travel insurance and COVID-19 cover will automatically apply to all Emirates tickets purchased from December 1, and extend to Emirates codeshare flights operated by partner airlines, as long as the ticket number starts with 176. Cross River State on Tuesday opened bids for the Obudu International Airport project. Three construction firms participated in the exercise according to a statement emailed by the Chief Press Secretary of the State, Christian Ita. Read more
‘FG fixes roads connecting Nigeria, African countries’
The Federal Government is currently working on roads connecting Nigeria to other nations of Africa as part of measures to boost Nigeria’s competitiveness in the African Continental Free Trade Area market. Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, said this at the ongoing virtual workshop organised by the National Action Committee on the AfCFTA with focus on ‘Nigeria – the Transportation Hub for Africa.’ Read more
US imposes $15,000 visa bond on 15 African countries, others
The outgoing administration of US President, Donald Trump, on Monday, November 23, 2020, issued a new temporary visa rule that requires tourist and business travelers from 15 African countries and others to pay a bond of up to $15,000 in addition to the visa fees, which ranges from $16 to $300, in order to visit the United States. Senate approves FG’s N148bn refund to five states
The upper legislative chamber approved the money after Clifford Ordia, chairman of the committee on local and foreign debts, presented a report for the consideration of his colleagues. President Muhammadu Buhari had asked the senators to approve the refund. Bayelsa will get N38 billion, Cross River, N18 billion, Ondo N7 billion, Osun N4 billion and Rivers, N78 billion. Read more
Scotland Will Be The First Country To Make Period Products Free
Scotland will be the first nation to make tampons and pads free for anyone in need after parliament unanimously passed the legislation Tuesday. Under the bill, the Scottish government will create a nationwide program to make the products accessible for people who need them; all schools, colleges and universities will be required to stock them in bathrooms; and government officials can order other public organizations to do the same.
