CBN gets court order to freeze accounts of #EndSARS ‘promoters’
The federal high court sitting in Abuja has granted the Central Bank of Nigeria’s request to freeze the accounts of 19 individuals and a public affairs company linked to the #EndSARS protests, TheCable can report. A document seen by TheCable on Friday showed that the CBN filed the request before A.R. Mohammed, the presiding judge, on October 20, 2020, and the court granted the request on November 4. Read more
Transcorp acquires 966MW Afam GenCo
The federal government and the Transcorp group, on Thursday, signed a share sale and purchase agreement for the Afam Power Plc and Afam III Fast Power Ltd at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. Alex Okoh, director-general of the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE), signed on behalf of the federal government, while Tony Elumelu, chairman of Transcorp Group, signed on behalf of the company. WTO: November 9 meeting to announce new DG postponed
The World Trade Organization has announced that it postponed the planned November 9th meeting to discuss the appointment of Nigeria’s Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala as the next Director-General. This was disclosed in a statement released on Friday evening. Read more
#EndSARS: CCTV footage from day of Lekki shootings played at Judicial Panel
The Lagos Judicial Panel of Enquiry investigating incidents of human rights abuse by security agents was granted access to video footage surrounding the unfortunate Lekki shootings which occurred on the 20th of October, 2020. The 4-hour long video was viewed at the panel’s sitting on Friday, according to a Channels TV report. Read more
Nigeria to generate $6 billion through Blockchain by 2030-NITDA
The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has stated that the Federal Government plans to earn $6 billion from Blockchain technology by 2030. This was disclosed by the NITDA Chief, Mr Kashifu Inuwa, on Friday in a meeting with stakeholders reviewing Nigeria’s Blockchain Adoption Strategy Framework. Read more
Applicants to NNPC: release 2019/2020 recruitment list
Applicants of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) 2019/2020 recruitment exercise have called on the Corporation to release its recruitment list. The applicants, in a statement, appealed to the National Assembly to prevail on NNPC to release the list of successful ‘Experienced Hires’ candidates for the 2019/2020 recruitment exercise. Read more
