GTBank obtains approval to restructure as holding company
Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank), Nigeria’s biggest bank by market capitalisation, has obtained an approval-in-principle from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to commence a formal process of restructuring to a financial holding company. In a statement released on Wednesday, signed by Erhi Obebeduo, company secretary at GTBank, the restructuring will be implemented by means of a scheme arrangement between the Bank and its shareholders in pursuant to companies and allied matters act (CAMA). COVID-19: Governors set to increase testing capacities in all LGAs
The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has agreed to improve COVID-19 testing capacities in all local governments, in a bid to avert the rising second wave of the pandemic in Nigeria. This was disclosed by the NGF in a communique released on Thursday after the forum’s virtual meeting. Read more

The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has called on traditional leaders to work with the Police on Community Policing, in a bid to secure local communities from violence. NNPC to recommence oil exploration in Lake Chad Basin

The Chinese government has announced the temporary suspension of entry into China by non-Chinese nationals in Nigeria holding valid visas and residence permit due to the coronavirus pandemic. Viral 'ballot' burning video shared by Eric Trump is fake
(CNN)A viral video that purports to show about 80 "ballots," all for Donald Trump, being burned is fake, Virginia Beach city officials say. The video, which surfaced on Tuesday, features a man with a plastic bag full of papers that look like ballots, which he doused with a flammable liquid and set aflame. The person, whose face is never shown, claims the 80 false "ballots" are "all for President Trump" on the video. Though the location is not discussed on the video, the races on the papers are from Virginia Beach, Virginia. Read more

WADA apologizes and compensates former Liverpool player, Sakho over doping test
In April 2016, former Liverpool player, Mamadou Sakho, was suspended from football after he failed a drug test after a Europa League game against Manchester United. The French defender tested positive for fat-burner Higenamine, which was not on the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) list of banned substances. He was given a provisional 30 days suspension which saw him miss out on Liverpool’s Europa League Final defeat to Sevilla and, he claims the suspension also cost him a team place with the French team at the Euro 2016 tournament.
