NSE is world’s best performing exchange — posts biggest daily gain in five years
The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) emerged the best performing stock exchange in the world on Tuesday. Market capitalisation, which opened at N14.40 trillion, crossed the N15 trillion mark to close at N15.11 trillion as investors gained N949 billion. Read more
COVID-19: IMF extends debt relief for 28 low-income countries by six months
The executive board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has approved a six-month extension of the debt service relief granted to 28 low-income countries. This follows a six-month debt relief granted to 25 countries in April under the Catastrophe Containment and Relief Trust (CCRT). Read more
TUC to PenCom: Amend pension act to enable workers withdraw 50% from retirement savings
The Trade Union Congress (TUC) has asked the National Pension Commission (PenCom) to recommend an amendment of the pension reform act (PRA) 2014 to allow workers withdraw 50 percent of pension savings upon retirement. Read more
Naira gains, exchanges for N457/$
The naira gained slightly, as it exchanged to the dollar at N457/$ at the parallel market on Tuesday. It had earlier exchanged at N465/$ a week earlier. Zamfara establishes gold mine
Zamfara State Government has established a gold reserve beginning with 31 kilogrammes of processed gold. Speaking to journalists in Gusau on Tuesday, Governor Bello Matawalle said the gold was wholly mined and refined by artisanal miners in the state. Read more
