New Nigerian airline to begin operations
Nigeria’s air transport is set to experience a revolution as a proposed low-cost carrier – Green Africa Airways – is set to commence operations. It has already reached the final stage of certification. Regulatory sources hinted that promoters of the carrier are putting finishing touches to secure the Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC) from the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), a mandatory regulatory prerequisite before any scheduled carrier could take off. Jeff Bezos Overtakes Elon Musk As World’s Richest Person
Jeff Bezos has yet again clinched the title of world’s richest person from Elon Musk, after shares of Amazon AMZN-1.2% jumped on Wednesday. Amazon’s stock rose by nearly 1.5% on Wednesday, pushing Bezos’ net worth up by $2.4 billion, to $184.9 billion. That makes him the richest person in the world once again, according to Forbes’ estimates. Bezos is just $200 million richer than number two richest Musk, who is worth $184.7 billion. Read more
Nigerians drop appointment dates as NIN deadline nears
Large crowds of Nigerians who do not have National Identity Numbers on Thursday gathered at the National Identity Management Commission, as they jettisoned the appointment dates given to them by NIMC workers. Workers at the commission said the rush was intensifying by the day because the deadlines issued by the Federal Government for the registration of Subscriber Identification Modules with NINs were fast approaching. African Union secures 270 million Covid-19 vaccine doses from drugmakers
The African Union has secured 270 million Covid-19 vaccine doses for the continent from drug manufacturers to supplement the COVAX programme, a step towards the commencement of the complex task of vaccinating over 1.2 billion people with limited financial resources. Drugmakers Pfizer, AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson will provide the vaccines, of which 50 million doses will be made available for the crucial period, between April and June 2021. Read more

A new Disney+ Yvonne Orji autobiography comedy series is officially in the works
Nigerian American comedienne, Yvonne Orji has begun developing a 30-minute autobiography comedy series for Disney+. The series titled 'First Gen' will reportedly follow Yvonne Orji's experiences as a Nigerian immigrant growing up in America. The autobiography comedy series titled 'First Gen' will be co-produced by David Oyelowo and Oprah Winfrey. Read more
