Road to Recovery: Where do we go from here?

FG asks n’assembly to approve fresh $1.2bn loan from Brazil

Zainab Ahmed, minister of finance, budget and national planning, made the request on Tuesday when she appeared before the house committee on finance to defend the ministry’s budget. The Dangote Group has announced that its $2 billion Granulated urea fertilizer plant which is located at Ibeju Lekki, Lagos state, will start operations before the end of December. This disclosure was made by the Group Head, Corporate Communications, Dangote Group, Mr. Anthony Chiejina, during a chat with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday, November 4, 2020, in Lagos state. INEC earmarks N1 billion for the resumption of voter registration in 2021

FIRST Bank of Nigeria Limited has announced that its mobile banking application, FirstMobile, has been awarded the 2020 Best Mobile Banking App Award 2020 in the Global Finance Best Digital Bank Awards 2020. This feat is largely attributable to the bank’s relative strength and success of its web products and services, notably FirstMobile. Read more

UK’s CDC provides $75m funding to Stanbic IBTC

CDC Group, the UK’s development finance institution and impact investor, announced a $75m debt commitment to Stanbic IBTC Bank Plc, a subsidiary of Stanbic IBTC Holdings Plc and member of the Standard Bank Group. CDC said in a statement that the long-term funding would enable the bank to continue lending to businesses in subsectors of the economy important for domestic consumption and exports including food, manufacturing, telecommunications and construction. DSS shuts school, sacks 140 teachers over request for better welfare

For demanding better conditions of service and regularisation of their appointment, the Department of State Services has sacked 140 teachers and other staff members of its Community Staff Schools, Asokoro, Abuja. The service also shut down the institution and directed the 1,800 pupils in the nursery/primary and secondary classes to stay at home for two weeks. Read more

Two Nigerian-Americans, Esther Agbaje, and Oye Owolewa, emerged victorious in the 2020 US election, breaking two records. While Agbaje won a legislative seat in Minnesota House of Representatives, Owolewa was elected into the US House of Representatives. Agbaje set the record for being the first Nigerian-American in the Minnesota legislature. Read more
