FG to pay N71bn counterpart funding for six railway projects
The Federal Government is to partly fund six rail projects connecting virtually all regions of the country with a counterpart funding of N71.15bn this year. Also, N15.1bn will be spent on the development of safety and security critical projects, airport certification, runway construction, terminal building, among others in the aviation sector in 2021. Senate queries NBET’s N50bn escrow account
The Senate Public Account Committee has asked the Nigeria Bulk Electricity Trading Plc to explain how it managed the N50bn in its Escrow Account. The chairman of the committee, Senator Matthew Urhoghide, issued the directive based on the 2015 audit report submitted to it by the Office of the Auditor General for the Federation. Read more
NSE admits 2.64 billion shares of Transcorp Hotel
The Nigerian Stock Exchange has listed 2.64bn ordinary shares of Transcorp Hotel Plc on the Daily Official List of the Exchange. According to a report obtained from the Exchange, the additional shares listed on the Exchange arose from the company’s rights issue of 2.66bn ordinary shares of 50 kobo each at N3.76 kobo per share on the basis of seven new ordinary shares for 20 ordinary shares held as at July 13, 2020. N1.3bn debt: AMCON takes over Inducon Nigeria’s assets
The Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria has said it took over an asset belonging to the Chief Promoter of Inducon Nigeria Limited, Dr. John Abebe, over N1.3bn debt. In a statement on Sunday from the Head, Corporate Communications Department, AMCON, Jude Nwauzor, titled ‘N1.3bn debt: AMCON takes over assets of Inducon Nigeria Limited’ it said this followed the order of Honourable Justice Aikawa of the Federal High Court, Lagos. ‘She’ll be first American woman to lead WTO’ — US leaders write Biden to back Okonjo-Iweala
Some US leaders, including Nobel Laureate Joseph Stiglitz, have written President Joe Biden, urging him to support the candidacy of Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala for the office of the director-general of the World Trade Organisation. In an open letter addressed to the newly sworn-in president, the US leaders said Okonjo-Iweala’s ascension to the office of the DG would send a strong message to the rest of the world that Biden is leading an inclusive government. The FG has stated that it will buy Oxford/AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine for Nigerians, given the availability of facilities needed for its storage. This is according to the Executive Director/Chief Executive Officer of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), Dr. Faisal Shuaib, as reported by The Nation. Read more

Flour Mills Nigeria Plc has listed its tranche A and tranche B bonds on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange. The listing was commemorated with a digital Closing Gong ceremony at the NSE. The Divisional Head, Listings Business, NSE, Mr Olumide Bolumole, said, “It has been a positive start to the Nigerian capital market in the new year and we are pleased to commemorate the listing of Flour Mills’ N29.8bn Tranche A and Tranche B Bond Issue, the final series under its N70bn Bond Issuance Programme. Larry King, the multiple award-winning TV and radio host has died at the age of 87. King who had a long-running show on CNN, Larry King Live was a household name for his many interviews with political leaders, celebrities and newsmakers. King’s death was announced on his official Twitter handle stating that he passed on Saturday morning at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California, USA. Read more
