FIRS: We achieved 98% of our 2020 target — generated N4.9trn

The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) says it generated a revenue of N4.9 trillion in 2020. According to a statement signed by Abdullahi Ahmad, FIRS director of communications and liaison, this represents 98 percent of its N5.076 trillion target. Read more

CBN to review products launched by licensed financial institutions

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) says it will review the products and solutions being launched by licensed financial institutions. This was announced in a circular issued to all deposit money banks, mobile money operators and payment service providers on Monday and signed by Musa Jimoh, the director of payments system management department, and Kevin Amugo, director of financial policy and regulation department. Covid-19: Oxygen demand in Lagos State has risen 5 times – Sanwo-Olu

The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has warned that the rising second wave of the pandemic in Lagos has seen the demand for oxygen rise 5 times from 70 six-litre cylinders per day to 350 six-litre cylinders at Yaba Mainland Hospital alone. The Governor also urged that all malaria-like symptoms should henceforth be considered as COVID-19 virus infection unless and until proven not to be so. Read more

First cargo of Nigeria’s newest crude grade, Ayala, to arrive Europe

The first export cargo of Nigeria’s newest crude grade, Anyala, is reported to be on its way to Northwest Europe. According to a report from S&P Global Platts, while quoting trading and shipping sources, the cargo is likely to travel from Fos-sur-Mer to the Cressier refinery in Switzerland through the SPSE pipeline. While 39.9% of Nigerians say they will take the vaccine, 63.3% are opposed to another lockdown. These and more details were disclosed by SBM Intel, a geopolitical research and strategic communications consulting firm in its recent Covid-19 report titled, ” Covid in Nigeria: The Second Wave”.
