SON to stop registration of products with similar names to popular products
The Standards Organization of Nigeria (SON) has disclosed the agency will stop the registration of products with similar business name to another product already popular in the market, in order to eliminate substandard goods. This disclosure was made by the Director-General of SON, Malam Farouk Salim, while receiving the Alaba International Amalgamated Traders Association, during a visit to the SON office in Lagos. Nigeria, Niger Republic sign MoU on petroleum products transportation, storage
The Federal Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Niger Republic on the transportation and storage of petroleum products. This was disclosed by the Ministry of Petroleum Resources via its Twitter handle on Thursday. Read more
CBN list requirements for third party participation in buying forex routed through Form M
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), in a new circular, has clarified its position on the removal of third parties from buying of foreign exchange routed through Form M, letters of credit, and other forms of payment. While reiterating its earlier directive that destination payment for all forms M, letters of credit, and other forms of payment should be made directly to the ‘Ultimate Supplier of Products’; it gave conditions that must be met by importers if they choose to use a buying company other than the primary manufacturer. Rivers misses out as FG disburses N66.5bn World Bank COVID-19 grant to states
According to a statement by Hassan Dodo, director of press at the ministry of finance, budget and national planning, Rivers was the only state that missed out of the grant due to its inability to meet the required criteria to publish its COVID-19 response amended budget. The ministry explained that each state received N1.9 billion ($5 million). Read more

On Wednesday, CNN published its investigation on the incident, alleging that soldiers used live bullets on #EndSARS protesters who had converged on Lekki tollgate on October 20. The army insists that its men only fired blank bullets into the air to disperse the protesters, and that no life was lost. But the CNN report alleged that many were killed and some still missing — according to eyewitness accounts. Read more
Georgia confirms Biden victory and finds no widespread fraud after statewide audit
(CNN) Georgia has finished its statewide audit of the razor-thin presidential race, confirming that President-elect Joe Biden defeated President Donald Trump, according to a news release from the Secretary of State's office. Biden beat Trump by 12,284 votes, according to the final results from the audit. This is a slight drop for Biden compared to the pre-audit results. Read more
